Is a virtual inspection as effective as on-site?
It depends on the circumstances. While we cannot smell odors or perform any kind of invasive inspection via video, we are able to perform a thorough assessment of any place you’re willing to show us in the majority of cases.
Can a virtual inspection replace mold testing?
A virtual inspection may replace mold testing if the mold is visible and you just want to know how to address it. In many cases like this, testing is not necessary. For more information on when and why mold testing may or may not be required, visit our mold testing page.
How do I prepare for the virtual inspection?
Install Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet on your phone. Connection details will be provided when you schedule your appointment. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and PPE if you are entering dirty, moldy, or confined areas.
Can a virtual inspection detect hidden mold behind walls?
We usually can’t see through walls during a virtual inspection, but we can often identify evidence or indications of issues within a wall. For a more thorough check in hidden areas, a more invasive inspection and/or mold testing may be required.
What should I do if mold is found during the virtual inspection?
We will provide you with personalized steps to take if mold is found, as well as a quote for remediation. You are free to hire us or carry out the recommended steps on your own.
Are there any additional costs involved with a virtual inspection?
There is no cost and no obligation for the initial 15-minute inspection and associated report. Extended consultations, follow-up inspections, or other services may incur a fee, which you will be notified about in advance.
How long does a typical virtual inspection take?
Fifteen minutes is usually sufficient to gather background information and view typical mold or water issues. Extensive damage or complex issues may take longer but usually not more than 45 minutes. You need a phone with a camera and Zoom, Facetime, or Google Meet. In addition, you will need access to an email address where we can send your report. It’s that simple.

You will get a written report of our findings, the steps to remediate, and a quote for remediation, if applicable.
What areas should I show during the virtual inspection?
You will want to show the area(s) of concern and any nearby areas that may have water leaks or contribute to elevated humidity. For basements and crawl spaces, your inspector may ask you to walk around outside to show gutters, downspouts, sprinkler systems, etc.
Is there follow-up support available after the inspection?
